Happy Monday, friends!
So this post is a funny one. If you follow me on Instagram (Kylieh23), you saw that yesterday I posted a picture of one of my weekly Sunday chores in the summmma time...choppin' watermelon.
If you're like our family, you know that watermelon is a gift from God and proof that he loves us and wants us to be happy and that Summer beats Winter in a game of rock paper scissors any day. That last statement made absolutely no sense. Moving on...
I got lots of questions about how to pick the best watermelon because lets face it, choppin' up one of these behemoths just to be greeted with a sour bite is not the best way to start off your summer BBQ.
Follow these 3 steps and you're sure to have the best watermelon every time.
1) Look for the watermelon with the largest yellow spot. This spot is from where it ripened in the sun, so a big spot=extra ripe
2) It should be twice as heavy as it looks. If you pick it up and say "woaah nelly! This baby should not weigh this much" you've got a winner. You want a watermelon that is 90% water...so the heavier, the better. (probably the only situation that statement applies to. Oh and diamonds. Heavy diamonds are good too)
3) The old fashioned best way to check it out, put your ear up to that sucker and knock. Does it sound hollow? Good. You've got a sweet watermelon on your hands. :)
And thats it! We devour watermelon like it's going out of style in the Rose house (well it's going out of season at least. Before we know it, Fall will be upon us. Excuse me while I shed a tear) and i've yet to pick a bad one this summer using those rules.
I've got some fun projects up my sleeve to share with y'all this week, except my laptop is in the toilet. Not literally, but the thing just keeps breaking. I'm working on convincing the hubsicle that I need a Macbook pro. I'll let you know how that goes ;)
In the meantime, my blogging might be a little sporadic, but I have so many things to share with you guys, so check back lots this week.
PS...did you notice the amazeballs facelife Absolutely Arkansas got over the weekend? I'm in loooooove! Thank you to my friend Angi at Angi Clark Designs for being the best plastic surgeon ever to my blog baby! (Okay, blog adult. Babies shouldn't get plastic surgery)
Until Next Time,
